Leading up to this energy and place project we studied land ethic and environmental ethic. We watched movies and got lectures from power points about what they were and examples in the real world. We also got guest speakers that were Ty Churchwell and Dan Olson. We also did nature writing to get us prepared for writing about sense of place. We learned about Oil and gas boom in North Dakota, Environmental Justice and Town Hall Debate.
I didn't have to think much about what my environmental ethic was, I have thought about it a lot before and I think mine was already chiseled down a lot. My sense of place writing also was pretty easy for me to write, when we first talked about where we felt most connected to I had thought of the aspen grove I spent my summer in love with. The hardest thing for me writing this sense of place was thinking of how to describe an indescribable place. But I used my newly found writing skills to do it and I am very proud of it also. I also didn't know what style to write it in. I started with the tree's perspective and I wanted to add my perspective and then I just kept adding them to all that I wanted across.
I am most proud of my essay because I got all that I wanted to say across in it not only a fun way but also in a clear way. Like when it says "deforestation never had I seen it so close to my heart" this repeats at the end of every perspective and it meets the requirement when we have to talk about what our environmental ethic is.
