I don't normally work on mondays but I had a very special guest come today and the school got to watch a play.
Crew: No crew because mondays are early release First hour: I watched the show play! It was a play about a play Second hour: Watched the play. Fourth hour: Planning was this hour because of early release so we all ate lunch instead. Fifth hour: I taught my lesson to this hour now because Jessica came and saw me teach it. Lunch: We used this as planning since we already ate. Sixth hour: I went to Mr.Johnsons so I could watch his class that is in Algebra 2! I taught my first lesson today! What a thing to do to end the week!
Crew: They just got to do homework today First hour: They had a friday game day Second hour: They got directions to create a house and it was pretty hard actaully! Third hour: I did my first lesson! I taught them how to create and solve linear equations. Lunch: Friday is also pizza day! Fourth hour: i just checked my email and what not Fifth hour: They had to make the house and like second hour. Today was all mainly on PARCC testing.
Crew: they all talked about their SLC that they have to do when they get back from spring break. First hour: They played with tangrams again Second hour: This hour is actually 5th hour due to PARCC testing. They did SLC prep and I handed a paper out that will go along with my lesson. Third hour: This time this hour is actually sixth hour which I never have been with. So I got the chance to hand out a paper that will go along with my lesson. Lunch: Got salad bar. Also I brought my and Deb a s'mores I made the night before :) Fourth hour: I graded papers. Fifth hour: We did PARCC testing. Today was a tangram kind of day! In every class we tried various things with tangrams.
Crew: We first did circle up, the question was what color crayon would you be and then we read Peak. First hour: In this class we played with tangrams and they had to make a square with 6 different shapes. Second hour: The number starter was tangrams, they all got 4 different hints and they had to make the thing the hints told them. Then they all did a geometry sheet. Third hour: For their number talks they did the same thing with their tangrams. Then they took notes on discrete vs. continuous. Lunch: Got salad bar. Fourth hour: I just started to try to find what lesson I want to start teaching. Fifth hour: We did PARCC testing with 3rd hour. Today was pretty easy day, almost everyone had PARCC testing so it was a chill day. I didn't get to learn anything today because I only saw 2 classes all day but my day looked like this;
Crew: Two girls brought in an object that they created, the objective of the activity was that the rest of the class got in small groups and they had to re create the object. Only one person could go outside to look at it at a time. It was a wimpy bird with eyes all over the body. First hour: I got to explain Bowl-O-fact which is a game where you get 3 numbers and you have to +,-,/ and * them to get numbers 1-10. This was lots of fun but the ESL kids had a little bit of a hard time. Second hour: We did Bowl-O-fact again but we picked number 11-20 instead of 1-9. They all just complained a lot. Third hour: This class only had 4 kids that were 7th graders because the 8th graders were in PARCC testing. Lunch: Got salad bar. Fourth hour: I just started to try to find what lesson I want to start teaching. Fifth hour: We did PARCC testing with 3rd hour. Today was pretty much the same as yesterday except today there was a quiz in all my classes, I graded them as they came in... Sadley, no one got 100%.
My day looked like this; Crew: All the school reads a book and it is the same book I read while I was there, it was Peak. Then I got to here kids play their Saxaphone, Flute and Trombone. First hour: I helped the ESL students with their math and they made a module and found the volume of the simple shapes. Second hour: We started with a number talk again and then had a quiz. Third hour: Same as second Lunch: Got salad bar again and then I went and visited my old choir teacher Ms. Black. Fourth hour: This was planing hour and I made a anchor poster and it had things to remember about Translations and reflections. Fifth hour: Same as second and third. Today was my first day! I worked 7:50-2:30 in that time I had helped 4 classes, had lunch and a planning hour. What my day looked like;
Before Class: Met my my old teachers and they got to make fun of me about wanting to be a math teacher :) Crew: Crew is like our advisory, what we did was a circle up then we all had to stand on a blanket and try to flip it. It was tons of fun! First hour: I helped the ESL students cut out shapes for their 3-D modules. Second hour: we had advanced math we started with a starter (number talk) then watched a YouTube video about simple geometry as a review. Third hour: This class had two kids that I knew Travis and Shauntana, they go to the Boys and Girls Club. We started with a number talk again and then took notes on translation and slides. Lunch: I got to get Salad bar and thanks to the courtesy of Ms. Goodman I got it free. As I ate I graded some papers as she went to a meeting. Fourth hour: is our free hour, we just talked this hour. Fifth hour: This hour I knew one other kid and that is Travis's twin, Trevor. We did the same thing as second hour. |
